Snow Day Superstitions...

Now that we have a Kindergartner, we have learned all about Snow Day Superstitions! Brenly came home from school on Wednesday and said that we needed to do ALL these things so that she could get a "snow day" from school! I asked her what ALL we had to do and this was the list:
We have to put a spoon under or pillow (check)

We have to wear our pajamas inside out (check)

We have to flush 2 ice cubes down the toilet (check)

We have to leave 2 ice cubes in the toilet and let them melt (check)

We have to do the snow dance (twirling around in your bed, check)

After all of that, I told her that even though we had done ALL these things, it still may not snow, and she still may not get out of going to school. I asked her "Who is still in charge?" She answered, "God" That's right and so if God thinks that we don't need snow, then we wont get it, and you will go to school!
She understood and quickly went to bed (with a spoon and a tooth under her pillow....I wonder if the tooth fairy was confused by the spoon :)

Lo and behold....we got just a dusting of snow...AND she got out of school!

I had one happy Kindergartner this morning!!

I need a Tennis shoe...

We were all sitting at the table last night and Avery was complaining about a small cut on her finger...she was fussing and whining and she said, "I need a Tennis Shoe!!!" We all looked at her like she was crazy and started laughing! I said, "No you need a band-aid and as soon as we get through eating, I will get one." She started fussing again sating that she didn't want a band-aid, she wanted a tennis shoe! Confused, I finally told her to get down and go get a tennis shoe for her little cut (thinking that it would be real funny for her to walk in with a shoe on her hand!) She gets down and comes in the living room and picks up a TISSUE for her little cut! We all died out laughing!
Tennis Shoe = Tissue (in Aver-ese)

Snaggle-tooth...

For weeks, Brenly had been working on her first loose tooth...Momma, being the hygienist that I am have tried to be very patient with her and let her get it out in her own time...However, last night after looking at the tooth...I knew that the tooth fairy would be making a visit...IT HAD TO COME OUT!!

So I get her up on the bathroom counter and "WE" start to work on getting that tooth out...

I would pull alittle and then she would declare that it was her turn to try...(at this point the tooth was laying horizontal)

After approximately 45 minutes of her "TRYING", Momma finally yanked it right out...

and I have never in my life seen a girl be sooooo excited!

It was like she had reached that milestone in life...She really is a big girl...she lost her tooth!

and now we have a snaggle tooth on our hands, and she couldn't be happier:)

so we had to prepare for our first visit from the tooth fairy!

and she came...leaving $5 behind!

Being the wife of a Game Warden...

There are many aspects of my husbands job that I never really "knew" about until after he had already gotten the job...
One of those being this...
Never did I know that my freezer would become full of fine feathered friends like these..

These make #3 and #4 that have come home with my husband to be kept in MY freezer as evidence...
I do believe the state of TN owes me a new freezer :)

The day life changed forever...

AGAIN...

It was Christmas afternoon and I checked my phone...I had gotten a call from my dad to check on the girls and see exactly what Santa got them...We were in the middle of opening presents so I didn't hear it...
So at approx. 3:30, I called him back to check on him, say Merry Christmas and let the girls talk to him! He sounded good, told me that he was about to leave the apartment to go to Tunica to meet Patty, Jenni and Melbo...He sounded so excited to get to spend the evening with them.
Unfortunately that was the last time that I would speak to him...He never made it to meet his sister...He was involved in a horrible car accident and by the time someone got to him to check on him...He was already in heaven, celebrating Jesus' birthday with my momma!!!
Dad was driving down Hwy 61 (he was driving north, when he should have been driving south to meet them...that is a question that will never get answered this side of heaven) near Hwy 3. He was on a bridge and sideswiped a car, over corrected, hit the concrete barrier near the end of the bridge and then the truck rolled multiple times down a huge embankment. By the time someone got to him "he was too far gone"
My aunt Patty had tried to call approx 6 times and he never answered, so unfortunately she was the one to get the call from the coroner :(
They called my brother and then he called me...So at 7:30 on Christmas night 2009, I found out that my last surviving parent had gone to be with Jesus!
WOW! Really hard to wrap my mind around it...But we believe in God's perfect plan for our life and we declare that He is just as good and faithful today as He was in the moments before and even during dad's wreck.
In April of 2009, I (by the constant prompting of the Holy Spirit) decided to get re-baptized...There were many questions in mind as to why God was calling me to do this...However there are no more question. You see, the day that I got baptized, my dad heard the gospel like he had never heard it before and during the invitation, my dad raised his hand to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior...
So my brother and I can KNOW without a doubt that My daddy is in heaven with my momma...celebrating at their Savior's feet...and nothing could be more precious than that!

Santa Clause came to town...

...and left LOTS of fun stuff!
We made it to Dickson, just in time for church on Christmas Eve night. We got home and we all got our new Christmas pjs and had to immediately hop into bed (well we had the girls sleep together on a pallet) Brenly was so excited that sleep was really hard to get...Avery was scared out of her mind, "But mommy, I don't want Santa Clause to come into this room!!" Needless to say, it took a long time for ALL to be snug in their beds!
We went to bed and woke up to all of this

and then got to open lots more presents from the rest of our family!

and MiMi and Grandfather got what they REALLY wanted...

and they both start crying

and then Grandfather and Brenly have a few guitar lessons...

and then we played alittle...

and then it was time for a nap...

WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY!!!

Christmas Eve...

with the Deaton side of the family! We were all together and had a great day! After a day full of opening presents, eating great food and hanging out...we made our way to Dickson to get ready for Santa Clause...
